The winner for this year's Best Original Screenplay Oscar is "Get Out." Director Jordan Peele accepted the award with an emotional speech talking about how he almost stopped writing "Get Out" 20 times because he didn't think the screenplay would ever get made if he did write it. The film won Best Original Screenplay, making Peele the first black man to win in his category. Peele's speech included a list of thank you's, one special one to “my mother, who taught me to love even in the face of hate.” Original Screenplay is considered to be an interesting category at the Academy Awards, one that might have limited in the past nominations for other categories, but this year "Get Out" was also nominated for Best Director and Best Picture and Daniel Kaluuya (main character in "Get Out") got nominated for Best Actor.
