As a fellow Californian, I’m here to confirm that the rumors are true: we are spoiled. Our weather is perfect—not too hot and not too cold. During the summer, there’s nothing better than enjoying a cold cocktail outside. As always, we’re on the hunt for next level experiences and San Francisco offers great cocktails, great weather, and great views.
El Techo is a rooftop bar in the Mission District of San Francisco. People line up outside and eagerly wait for their turn to ride the elevator up to the patio on the roof. The wait is indefinite, but most agree that it’s worth it. If you get there in the evening, you might even catch the gorgeous sunset.
On a Saturday evening, it only took about 30 minutes for me to get inside.
Like in most bars, I was told to find a spot for myself wherever I saw an opening. Tall bar stools and tables line the edges of the roof that’s protected by clear panels. These are the best seats for enjoying the view. More tables fill up the rest of the patio that still offer a lovely experience under the open sky.
There were groups of friends getting together for casual drinks, a couple on a date, and even a bachelorette party.
As the evening began to shift into nighttime, we were all treated to a beautiful sunset view!
