"Daft Punk is not performing at Coachella this year," a spokesperson for the French electronic duo told Rolling Stones this week. The news is not a huge surprise since the original lineup, which was announced months ago did not include them, but rumors by VEVO and Songkick online had the fans excited. Speculations of the duo performing a last minute show in Indio, Calif. this April started before the lineup was announced but the upcoming release of their spring album made it clear that they have other things to work on.
However, the new album’s release is still something to be very excited about. After months of hints and teases (they aired a 15 second teaser on March 2nd to show off their new album cover on Saturday Night Live), Random Access Memories --their first album since they signed with Columbia Records-- will be hitting stores on May 21. For their fourth studio album (their first album since 2005’s Human After All), the duo collaborated with Oscar-winning songwriter Paul Williams, disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder, and Animal Collective’s Panda Bear. A total of 13 tracks appear on the album, but the song titles have not been released yet.
The album is available on iTunes for pre-order for all you hard-core fans out there!
