Sangria is an alcoholic beverage of Portuguese and Spanish descent. The Sangria is a punch, but like so much better because of its red wine, chopped fruit and brandy. The word Sangria originates from the Spanish word Sangre which translates to blood. It doesn’t contain any blood, but it is a reference to the dark color of the wine in the drink.
Traditionally Sangria contains red wine with mixed fruits such as pineapple, peaches, nectarines, berries, apples, pears and orange juice. There are many variations out there though. Many will add different types of liquor into the mix since it will only make it stronger to drink.
