In the city where the beat only drops for the bass to kick in and the only caveat to going home is the rising sun, there is always something you can get into. Usually, people just get together at the normal party hubs: wynwood, downtown, the beach, and maybe brickell if you’re dressed to impress. But here are a few things going on this Friday (July 28) that rail off of Miami’s regular party routine:
80's Flashback Festival
One of the 305’s longest running underground scenes, Churchill’s Pub, is throwing an 80’s flashback festival. Yeah, 80’s themed parties are a dime a dozen in Miami, but this glam jam is going to feature over 20 bands on multiple stages and a costume contest with a cash prize. The gaudy throwback will start at 8pm and there will be a $10 admission at the door.
Cirque de Soleil
Whether you’re looking for a psychedelic experience that will leave you with more visuals than body highs or just want to take the family out to gawk over the intensity of human acrobatic capabilities, you should consider going to the illustrious Cirque de Soleil show this Weekend. OVO, which is the name of this arthropodic spectacle, will showcase a vivacious performance in the American Airlines Arena. The insect motif that CdS is bringing to Bayside varies in price, but tickets are starting as low as $25.
Miami Cannabis Walk
For those of you rolling up this weekend, you might want to consider throwing down for the cause and not just the blunt. Wynwood is hosting the 2017 Miami Cannabis Walk to raise awareness of the medicinal benefits of the miracle plant. It will be a 5k walk and admission is $10, plus a $1.54 fee, but that will also include an after walk concert that will host some budacioius artist like Otto Von Schirach, Edgar V, Chino Dreadlion, and much more. Signup starts at 4:20pm, naturally.
