Proctor and Gamble, the parent company of Tide, probably never imagined their Tide brand would have to be sending out tweets warning adults not to eat Tide pods. Tide pods are meant to go in your washing machine, not in your mouth! Tide has always warned parents to keep them away from kids because of their colorful candy-like appearance. The American Association of Poison Control Centers issued a “high alert” in response to the spike in teenagers, aka generation Z, who have been eating the Tide laundry detergent pods.
The viral trend on social media, the “Tide Pod Challenge”, has driven teenagers to biting into (sometimes eating) these poisonous little pods. They then record themselves while doing so. In an effort to deter others from trying this health-threatening challenge, Facebook and YouTube have announced they will be removing videos of people part-taking on this challenge from their platforms. Tide recently tweeted a video in collaboration with New England Patriots Football player Rob Gronkowski. Gronkowski states in the video “What the heck is going on, people? Use Tide Pods for washing. Not eating”. Now that you have learned a little about the Tide Pod Challenge dangers, make sure never to try it! Have a great day VIP Club Scene Magazine readers.
